Abstract
In this paper we show some preliminary results of simulations with a population of bit strings. We present the ideas of our model and point out the difficulties in implementing them. Although an open evolution is one of the final aims, we can present some interesting results with finite and even very small systems. One important result is the evidence that introducing startcodons in the decoding scheme is reasonable. This seems to have biological relevance since startcodons are used in natural decoding processes.
